Karimeter Journal Entry #17

Journal Entry #17
I am done in the Eastern Plaguelands having done all I can to help the cause.  The two paladin traveling companions of Fiona, Gidwin Goldbrains and Tarenar Sunstrike, have had their dream fulfilled and became full-fledged members of the Argent Crusade.  They are good guys and deserve it.  The fulfillment of that dream wasn’t without its own trials and tribulations.

When we reached Light’s Hope Chapel we were given a task by Lord Maxwel Tyrosus to enter a crypt and face the spirit of Lord Raymond George.  This was easily accomplished as I said those two are excellent paladins.  With the task completed they were granted entry into the Argent Crusade.  Unfortunately, Gidwin isn’t a very patient dwarf and he got tired of waiting around for Tarenar to head out and start battling the Scourge and left on his own.  He never arrived at the Northpass Tower and Tarenar was very upset and set out to find his friend.
When I met up with Tarenar later he had still not found any trace of Gidwin.  I promised to keep an eye for the dwarf or clues as to what might have happened to him.  While cleaning out some Scourge from town of Northdale I came across a prayer book.  It didn’t look like it had been there too long and upon further inspection I found out it belonged to Gidwin and I took it back to Tarenar.  Tarenar immediately headed out to Plaguewood believing that would be where his friend would have been taken.  I had a few tasks to finish up and followed him after a couple of days.

When I met back up with Tarenar he had still found no trace of Gidwin and was becoming increasingly upset.  It didn’t help any when Fiona and Argus Highbeacon mentioned that turning a skilled paladin like Gidwin into a Death Knight would be a huge coupe for the Scourge.   While I was looking around Plaguewood for clues I came across a ziggurat and went to investigate it in case the dwarf was being held in it.  Instead I came face to face with a Death Knight.  He used some power to grip me and pull me to him, which was a mistake because I’m very adept at close quarter fighting.  It was a fierce fight but I emerged victorious and upon searching his corpse, I found a missive with information of a blood ritual to be carried out Baroness Anastari that very day in a place called the slaughterhouse.
I quickly returned to Tarenar and the others to show them my discovery and we immediately made our way to this slaughterhouse all the while praying we were in time to stop the ritual and save our friend.  We burst through the entryway to find Gidwin chained to an altar and the Baroness Anastari standing over him about to begin the ritual.  She actually had the nerve to laugh at us and comment that we were not enough to stop her.  That laugh died on her lips as we returned her to the afterlife from whence she had come.

So, the two friends are re-united and are doing well in the Argent Crusade with Fiona trying to keep them out of trouble (I do not envy her that task!).  I took my leave and plan on spending about a week in Ironforge resting up and getting my armor repaired and see if I can’t find some better pieces for the more worn ones and if I happen to wander into a bar or two for a little nip well, I would say it was well earned.
