After spending several days in Stormwind I made my way south. I was unable to stay there any longer as it’s just too busy for me – these people never seem to sleep! Activity all day and night! I finally found a quiet place to meditate in the cemetery behind the cathedral.
I came across a small camp at the border of Duskwood and Stranglethorn. They needed some help with the Trolls in the area. In the process of taking back some of the ruins that the Trolls had claimed as their own, I managed to pick up a small raptor. The little thing took a liking to me and followed me around like a pet. While dealing with the Trolls the little thing found a skull it wouldn’t put down and I had the gnome Osborn Obnoticus inspect it for me and he had to retrieve some fetishes and a body in order to bring the Troll that the skull belonged to back to the world of the living. I was leery of doing this for the gnome but I honestly did not believe he would be successful but I was wrong! We resurrected Bloodlord Mandokir and this ferocious troll wanted the raptor after threatening us. I gave the raptor over with much misgivings and after Mandokir left, I lit into the gnome because he seemed to know who this troll was. Osborn told me about how this Mandokir was thought to have perished in Zul’Gurub and if he has returned then others might have as well and I should go talk to Priestess Thaalia at Fort Livingston.I headed out right then and found this Priestess and after bringing her feathers she enabled me to touch minds with the little raptor. The raptor didn’t want to be where she was and I tried to help her escape but we were stopped near the end and the raptor was returned and I was forced out of her mind and sent reeling back to my own body. This is not good as there are a lot of Trolls in Zul’Gurub. I went looking for more information on what was happening.
I found a Troll in a dwarven camp and she after talking with her, she agreed to help me figure out what was going on. She gave me some incense to use at a totem in order to spy on Zanzil, a troll she had heard was in the area and up to no good. I was transported to the ruins of Aboraz and what I witnessed was that Zanzil was recruited to bring back some of the most powerful Trolls who had died in Zul’Gurub. When I returned by Maywiki, she sent me back to the ruins of Aboraz to kill Zanzil but he had already gone through a portal to Zul’Gurub and Maywiki asked me to go through the portal after him and destroy Priestess Jeklik and Priest Venoxis’ bodies before Zanzil is able to summon their souls back. After much soul searching on my part, I had to decline the mission because I really didn’t feel that my skills were up to this task. When I told Maywiki that, she looked at me in such a way that I thought she could see right to my core. She gave a nod and told me that it was a wise person who knew their abilities and limitations and that she would find someone else who was up the task to take care of it. I took my leave feeling inadequate in my skills but honest enough with myself that I just wasn’t strong enough in the way of the Light to handle that kind of a task. But I vowed to myself that one day I would be.
KariJournal Entry #10
After the fiasco with the Trolls, I had made my way further south to a town called Booty Bay. This place is run by goblins and all they seem to care about is making money. I swear that they would sell their own mother if the price was right. I was asked by the town leader, a Baron Revilgaz, to help with some pirates that were in the area. He asked that I retrieve some charts and orders that he had heard about. He takes the protection of his town very seriously and seems to have an idea of everything that is going on with the town limits. I was able to retrieve what he needed and they hinted at a pirate attack on Booty Bay. The Baron then asked me to become a spy and join up with the pirates. I laughed at the idea but he just looked at me without cracking a smile and the laugh died on my lips. I agreed to do it but I have no idea why as it was on my lips to decline. After doing a task for the recruiter to prove my worth, I found myself on the deck of a ship (I am so glad that Captain Angelina and First Mate Wavesinger of The Bravery took time to teach me a little of the seas). I just kept my head down and my mouth shut and did what was requested of me. In no time at all it seemed that I had earned their trust and was promoted several times – I guess good help is hard to get – with the ship captains almost fighting over me. It took me many weeks to get to that point and on my final promotion, I found some plans that the attack was imminent. I managed to sabotage some of the supplies and weapons before I left to report my findings to the Baron.
The attack came a little sooner than was expected and it was mad chaos! Fighting everywhere and the blood spilled made walking the pier a challenge. When the fighting began to ebb and the majority of the pirates where dead, the Baron sent me to kill Fleet Master Firallon to end this once and for all. As the Baron told me, the Fleet Master couldn’t be allowed to live and re-group to try this again. It was a hard fought battle aboard that ship. I found him below in his quarters and he immediately charged me. I managed to parry the blows and then there was no more time to think but just do. As I got in a sword thrust to his chest, there was an explosion which knocked me away and then blackness until I awoke in a bed in Booty Bay and the battle was over.We won the battle with few losses on our side but I am sore and still bruised. The healer did a wonderful job and I am back on my feet but moving a little tenderly. I think I will rest here for a week or so before moving on. The Eastern Kingdoms is vast and I want to explore these lands. The different races I meet fascinate me to no end and I still have a lot to learn in the ways of the Light and something is telling me that lessons are to be life lessons. Right now, there is a bottle of cherry grog with my name on it I need to attend to.
