Journal Entry #12
I am in Feralas. The problems here are mild compared to other areas I have been in. I stopped by Feathermoon Stronghold and was asked to help route the naga who had taken over the Ruins of Feathermoon. When I arrived at the ruins to offer my assistance, I was greeted with a gruff and hateful worgen and I was more than happy to get my task completed and return to the main land.
I then went to the Tower of Estulan and was given assignments by yet another gruff and hateful worgen. She asked me to take care of some gnolls and ogres and I swear that she just gave me the assignments to get rid of me. In the camp I met a Vestia Moonspear who asked me to keep an eye for a missing student who had gone out on his own looking for the Darkmist Ruins. I assured her that I would do so and went about getting my task completed for the worgen.
The jungle is hot and humid away from the coastline and it’s sea breeze that I enjoyed at Feathermoon Stronghold. My armor is chaffing me in places I cannot speak of in polite company and I swear all the bugs in the area have decided that I am a very tasty buffet! I can’t wait to get out of this place!
While dealing with the ogres, I did come across the Darkmist Ruins and went in there looking for the missing apprentice. I could sense the presences of lost souls and it chilled me to the bone. Was I actually complaining about the heat earlier? In a building I found the body of the apprentice and as I was examining the body, a spirit appeared to me asking me to release her from the chains that bound her to this place. She asked for mounds of glowing soil and soul essences from the restless spirits in the area. It took me some time to collect these items and when I presented them to her they did indeed seem to strengthen her. She then told me that she and the other spirits were being kept there by a demon called Verinias. She magically transformed the essences and returned it to me to summon this demon so that I might defeat him and set the spirits free. Everything went just like I planned and I was able to defeat him with little trouble. I then saw a ghostly vision of the spirit and a male elf. The male was speaking to the spirit and I could barely hear what transpired but he told her that he loved her (from what he said, I was able to determine that the name of the spirit was Sensiria) but was leaving; that the Shen’dralar had gone too far with dealing with demons. She laughed at him in such a way that sent a chill up my spine and then she used an arcane spell on him and turned him into the demon I had just slayed! The scene faded and I returned to the ruined building and found her there laughing at me. She told me that after having turned him, Verinias kept her trapped and refused to let her have the souls that would strengthen her and that the young apprentice was the first sustenance she had had in some time. She then turned into a demoness and thanked me for freeing her and disappeared. What have I done? What have I loosed on the world?
When the demoness left, I found the missing amulet in an empty pedestal and grabbed it quickly as I beat hasty retreat from those cursed ruins. Vestia was saddened at the death of her missing student but appreciated the return of the amulet. She didn’t know what to make of the demoness I had encountered though and could not shed any light on the events I described.
For now I will continue hunting down the ogres and maybe I will come across more information on this demoness while I am out there.
